Guitar Construction In construction, Joe uses various woods for guitar tops which include Sitka, Carpathian, German, Engelmann and other Spruce woods, as well as,Redwood, Western Red Cedar and Port Orford Cedar and other fine woods. The backs and sides are made from different species which include woods from the Mahogany and Rosewood families. Other tonewoods are available to choose from such as Walnut, Ziricote, Ebony, Pau Ferro, and Blackwoods of different types.
